Ernst Alexander Wellendorff founded his jewelry design business in 1893 when he started creating jewelry for European royalty. The company is managed today by the fourth generation of the Wellendorff family. The family has continued their commitment to fine craftsmanship. Each necklace is handcrafted from approximately 160 meters of solid 18K gold thread for unmistakable suppleness that characterizes Wellendorff rope. Each ring consists of at least 4 separate rings which retain their mobility. Their unique engraving technology and their "cold enamel" techniques allow them to create a collection of jewelry that is fascinatingly beautiful. We at Hutton's Fine Jewelers are proud to be one of only 25 jewelers in North America selected to carry Wellendorff Jewelry. In the Spring of 2008, Jurgen Haas, Wellendorff's Master Goldsmith, paid us a visit, and demonstrated how the famous Wellendorff "Silk" rope is crafted. We've put together a short video of his demonstration. Click on a photo to enlarge.
