In 1893 Kokichi Mikimoto harvested the first cultured pearl.  Since then Mikimoto has become known for the highest standards in cultured pearls.  Only 3-5% of cultured pearls harvested today meet the strict standards required to carry the Mikimoto name.  Today, Mikimoto pearls come in a variety of settings and colors from traditional strands to the hi-tech "Pearls In Motion".  There are Mikimoto pearls for every style.
